Detailed description:

I'm starting the application, the splash screen appears, and I get a message box telling me the program "failed to create an empty document".

Solution:

The application uses some components of Windows, which in this case are probably outdated. The easiest way to fix this problem is to install the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer: the needed components are included in this software package. Note Internet Explorer is a free product. You can get it from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com).
